Around 140 exhibitors are expected at the environmental technology trade fair this year

Positive signs for IFAT Africa 2017

IFAT Africa 2017 will be held at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from September 12 to 14, 2017. The organizers expect around 140 exhibitors at the environmental technology trade fair.

An exhibition area of approx. 5,200 square meters and additional open-air grounds offer more space for larger exhibits. The interest of companies underscores the importance of the trade fair’s product categories – Water, Sewage, Refuse and Recycling – for the African market. Companies participating include both local and international key players such as Averda, Bovu Fluid Holdings, C.R.I. Pumps S.A, Endress+Hauser, Grundfos, KSB Pumps & Valves, Memcon, NETZSCH Southern Africa, Ritz Pumps South Africa, Skip Truck Traders, Tecroveer, Wamechsi Group and Wilo Pumps S.A.

Core topic water shortage

Not only at the exhibition booths is there an opportunity to share information. The central forum also offers a great place for discussions. Top experts from politics, industry and research share their specialist knowledge with the visitors. One of the core topics of this year's conference program is water shortage, as Stefan Rummel, Managing Director of Messe München, noted: “The current water crisis is one of the most serious environmental problems facing Southern Africa. With IFAT Africa, we offer a platform for discussing solutions to these problems and presenting the relevant technologies.”

Driest year since 1904

The south of the continent has been suffering for many months from a severe drought, 2015 was the driest year in South Africa since weather records began in 1904. This further increases the pressure which is already on the water supply due to rapid population growth and continuing urbanization. IFAT Africa is a spin-off of IFAT in Munich, the world’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies. Further IFAT-events are organized by Messe München in China, India and Turkey.
